The City of Oxford Choir is a medium sized ensemble of 40 voices drawn from all realms of life in the city and surrounding areas and a wide range of ages. We are fortunate to have an excellent balance of voices.

We rehearse on Monday evenings during term time from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in Magdalen College School, Iffley Road. We give at least three concerts per year, and take advantage of many of Oxford's most architecturally or acoustically inspiring buildings. We perform regularly in the chapels of Queen's, Exeter and Keble colleges, as well as in the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, the Sheldonian Theatre, and further afield.

Social events (some of which also help raise funds for the choir) have included wine tasting evenings, social sing-throughs and after concert parties.  A delegation always goes for refreshments after each rehearsal to a local pub and all are always welcome.

Annual membership costs around £160 (determined at the AGM in October) payable in three termly instalments if you wish. Nobody should feel barred from the choir on financial grounds alone and the chair or treasurer welcome approaches from those in genuine financial hardship. Members rarely have to purchase their own music as it is usually obtained on loan, the cost of which is included in membership.

The City of Oxford Choir is a well-balanced choir: we do not suffer from the usual tenor shortages. At this time we are particularly keen on meeting low basses, but are always interested in hearing from good singers in any part: if you'll be an asset we'll try and find you a space. If you are interested in joining the choir please contact the Secretary (Margarita Morris) at secretary@cityofoxfordchoir.org.uk You will be invited to attend a rehearsal at the beginning of term and to do a private audition during the interval or at the end.
